We had a great photo walk around an area that thousands of people pass by every day but probably very few stop at. This is the brand new lift bridge over the Manchester Ship canal at Barton with its larger and older sibling carrying the M60 behind it. Perfect day with mill pond like conditions on the canal and glorious blue sky.
We don't get a huge amount of birds in the garden despite trying with bird feeders, nuts and the like but we do have a regular Robin that seems to like watching us as much as we like watching him.
The Leeds Liverpool canal was the first high volume mass transit transport system in the UK and around Appley Bridge it runs alongside its replacement the railway which runs from Southport to Wigan and beyond. Here is a view from under a railway arch across a canal bridge over towards Beacon Hill. Victorian civil engineering at its best!
We always like bare trees in Winter and ones especially that stand out on their own. We spotted this one from our Sunday stroll along the canal - love the colours on the other trees and the pattern against the sky.
Well its actually a bit of Winter Hill taken from the outskirts of Haigh Woodland Park one chilly Saturday morning a few weeks ago. A rare day with a bit of sun and no fog, rain or dreary drizzle.
One from July 2017 - an early evening visit to Parbold Hill and a stunning view over West Lancashire toward Southport in between heavy cloudbursts and glorious sunshine.
Between Christmas and New Year we're both fortunate to be off work so we take full advantage of this time together to get out and about and stock up on our photos. This leaf - a left-over from Autumn - was nestled up in some frosty grass and just looked like a photo waiting to be taken - so we did!
In June we had the once in a lifetime opportunity to have a seat on Horse Guards Parade London for the Queen's Birthday Parade - or Trooping the Colour. Here the Irish Guards carry the "colours" as the Lifeguards and Blues and Royals make their way off to the Mall for the march up to Buckingham Palace. One of our stand out moments in 2017. If you like this and want to see more then visit "On Parade".
A lot of what we are about involves taking photos and creating images. So as well as the images on the various blogs we do we've now got this dedicated page for galleries and for photos we just like - which we call "Today's Photos". Always something different and sometimes maybe a bit random but we hope you like them.
