Mother's Day weekend and the sun was out on what were the hottest few days of the year so far. So not wanting to wander too far from home we took to some old favourites and some new paths around Standish. It sometimes takes a good local walk to make you realise just what you have right on your doorstep.
After a few countryside/rural trips recently we went right into urban territory on our latest Saturday Snapping walk as we went to the former heart of the industrial might of the Manchester Ship Canal around Salford Quays and skirted the edge of Trafford Park. With the former docks at Salford now a buzzing community with Media City at it's heart, Trafford Park retains its place as a beating heart of industry with over 1800 businesses and 30,000 workers based in what was the world's first industrial estate and is still the largest in Europe. It is big and we will return but until then enjoy these showing the past, present and the future - and of course some wildlife too!
Who doesn't like a trip to the seaside?
For a few weeks we've been wanting to take a short trip out to Southport but either the weather has been pants or we haven't had enough time. Anyway everything fell into place in early March so we packed up for an early start and got some great photos of a huge number of different things in some glorious Spring sunshine. Who needs Summer?
Living where we do it doesn't take us long to get out in the countryside. So with one eye on the forecast and the other on the actual weather we took a chance and got up early on Sunday morning to get out and about before the heavens opened. We nipped down the road to one of our favourite spots Worthington Lakes and enjoyed an hour or so of uninterrupted walking and photography - perfect. Especially as it started pouring down about 30 minutes after we got back in!
With the "grown-ups" birthdays rapidly approaching we did our annual pilgrimage to do the birthday shopping in one go. This year we went to Manchester - in fact I think every year we go to Manchester - but we landed a little earlier than normal so we could go and take some photos whilst it was still quiet.
A lot of what we are about involves taking photos and creating images. So as well as the images on the various blogs we do we've now got this dedicated page for galleries and for photos we just like - which we call "Today's Photos". Always something different and sometimes maybe a bit random but we hope you like them.
